Erik J. Clark

Erik Clark is a trial and appellate lawyer focusing on business litigation. Erik’s recent work includes cases involving government regulatory enforcement actions, charter school finance, open meetings and public records law, regulation of managed care organizations, antitrust matters, multi-million-dollar contract and insurance disputes, and executive employment/non-competition lawsuits.

Selected to the 2017 and 2018 Ohio Super Lawyers lists and the 2015 and 2016 Ohio Rising Stars lists, Erik has represented clients including Uber, ProMedica, Cedar Fair, Trillium Farm Holdings, Urban Active, the Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission, the Ohio Department of Education, the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation, and the Columbus City School Board.

Erik has personal experience in all stages of the civil litigation process, including e-discovery, depositions, temporary restraining orders, preliminary injunction hearings, class certification, dispositive motions, trials, expert witnesses, and appeals. He also has experience in alternative dispute resolution processes such as mediation and arbitration.

Erik graduated summa cum laude from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, where he was Editor-in-Chief of the Ohio State Law Journal. After law school, Erik clerked for Judge Jeffrey S. Sutton on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.

He then served as the Simon Karas Fellow in the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, where he worked with the Ohio State Solicitor in representing the State of Ohio in high-profile appeals before the Ohio Supreme Court, the Sixth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. Before joining Organ Cole in 2012, Erik was a business litigator at Jones Day, one of the largest law firms in the world.

Erik is a member of the Chief Justice Thomas J. Moyer American Inn of Court, the Ohio State Bar Association, and the Columbus Bar Association. He is active in his church, First Community Church in Columbus, where he has served as chair of the governing board. Erik is married with three children. He enjoys golf, hockey, and cooking.
